BARBARA A. CARROLL was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History at San Diego State University in 1992. She earned her law degree from the Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in 1997, where she was the Phi Delta Phi student of the year in 1996. She was admitted to practice in California in 1998, and has been admitted to the United States District Court for the Central, Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Before joining the firm in 2003, Ms. Carroll was an associate at Sanger & Swysen, practicing criminal and civil litigation. From 2001 – 2009, Ms. Carroll was also an instructor at the Santa Barbara College of Law teaching Introduction to Law and Legal Research. She is a member of the State Bar of California, the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, and Phi Delta Phi. Since 2006, Ms. Carroll has served on the Board of Directors of Old Spanish Days.
Ms. Carroll has substantial experience in medical malpractice, elder abuse, personal injury, auto accident, employment, construction defect, and professional liability litigation. She also has experience handling restraining order applications to protect clients’ employees, and petitions to appoint or remove healthcare powers of attorney as necessary and appropriate.
